We're back.

I'm tired of Facebook. I want a way to share Effie's shenanigans with our family and friends, so I'll give this another shot.
So much time has passed. Frankie will be 3 this friday. I cannot even believe it. She's so smart and able and amazing in every way. Pics and stories to come. Here's a summary of the things she's crazy for:
Strawberry Pancake (IE; strawberry shortcake, she just cannot remember the name)
genitals, discussing them, pointing them out, looking at them, describing them... it's hysterical and inappropriate.
pink.
my iPhone (embarrassing, I know)
mint (gum, breath mints, chocolate and mint)
babies (real and pretend)
olives
books
tapirs
rhinos (we even have a baby named rhino)
discussing things that "people buy"

more later...

Frankie sprouted some teeth, they came out last Monday (7/25). They're really sharp.

need a band mate?

ps. I guess I'm not doing as much reflecting as my title suggests. I should probably change it to "babies make the best toys" or "hey! look how cute my baby is when I stage her with various props," because I have a feeling that's where this this project is going.

Frankie, RN

Frank the Tank

This is for anyone who tells me my baby is small...

Then:
Now:

Frankie Sits! First time 6/28/11

Time flies when you have a baby!

And who has time to keep up with a blog? I really (really) want to though, and I think about it every day. So here's to another attempt.
Frank (Franks, Franny Bananny, Franky Doodle) is now 5 1/2 months old. I can't even believe it. Our once 5 pounds peanut is now weighing in at nearly 15 pounds. She has jumped from the 10th percentile for weight and height to the 25th and shows no signs of slowing down. It's nuts. She can sit up by herself and she even tasted real food the other day. We gave her some avocado and she loved it, funny enough, Luther is showing some interested in her too now:

She also has a vast repertoire of sounds consisting of high pitched screams and the phrase "ba ba ba ba ba (ba ba ba ba ba - it goes on and on)". She's really amazing. She's constantly learning and figuring out her world. She's currently being entertained by a breast milk bag filled with ice water. It was 112 degrees here today and we have only a swamp cooler, no AC, so we make fun and stay cool at the same time.

Oh what else? There was mother's day. I had to work, but Frankie and Daddy bought us a BOB stroller. Now Frankie goes on walks with Luther and if I'm ever inspired to run again we gots the tools we need. I have not gone for a run since last April. That's lame.

Father's day was great too. Frankie got Dad a new pair of work shoes, he loves them. We got him some candy and beer too, also a hit.

What a great year so far!

the name game

Once upon a time before Frankie was Frankie we affectionately called her Flavor Flav. We didn't know she was a she and a modern baby name book actually guided us toward this gem of a name. It stuck.
Now that she's here we call her all kinds of things such as:
Frank and Beans (not an appropriate baby or blog name, look it up on urban dictionary), cranky Frankie, butter noodle, angel britches, Frank, Fitz (one of our boy names)... and occasionally she still gets to be Flavor Flav.

Is it bad that I totally ripped off VH1?

Anyhow, this is my official internet introduction of Frances Mertice Anderson, 10 weeks after her birthdate of 1/17/11. It was MLK day, she came out at 2131, she weighed 5lbs 10oz. She looked like this:

She looks like this now:

She's nearly doubled in weight at 10lbs!
Man, she is cute.

Here's a few more pictures to catch up for lost time...
